Is a hernia in any particular area of your stomach when you feel the pain?

Depends on the location of the hernia. Inguinal would be in the groin area, can be in testicle too in a male. Umbilical would be higher mid section, Hiatal would be even higher and you might have severe heartburn. There are other areas where someone could get a hernia, these are some of the more common ones. If a hernia strangulates it is a medical emergency. That is when the intestine has protruded through the muscle and cant be pushed back due to the muscle tightening around it, that would cause severe pain.
