Has anyone had experience with veneers if you grind your teeth?

My dentist agreed to give me veneers after warning me that I will probably break them after a couple of years because I grind my teeth at night, even if I wear a guard at night. She said if they break I'll have to get crowns, but she wont give me crowns yet because my teeth are not in bad condition, I just have gaps at the front and they are a bit short (which is why I wanted the veneers). Has anyone had experience with either crowns or vaneers if you are a grinder? Thanks :-)
